zingerParticipantDoes anyone know where exactly is the planned test borehole expected to be drilled? I am struggling to find the planning application.

Goto: WCBC: Planning Search
and enter P/2013/0660 in the case number box.
The postcode for the test drill borehole is LL13 9TF
Hope this helps.

Progress and profit, still two very dirty words in the Socialist Republic of Wrexham I see.
 Exploitation for profit would be nearer the mark I think. These are and always should be very dirty words in Wales as the recent example of Celtic Energy (listed for tax purposes in the British Virgin Isles) and who are now ‘unable to afford’ the reinstatement of their the opencast mines(leaving huge scars on the local landscape) in West Wales shows.

zingerParticipantThank you Metalhead.
Is this the same location as the anti fracking camp do you know?

You’re very welcome Zinger, I hope this was of some help. Yes, that’s pretty much where the test drill is located, it’s close to the first camp (the one the protestors were evicted from).

zingerParticipantSomehow, & I can’t remember how now, I managed a while ago to get a ‘as the crow flies’ mileage between the camp & Pant yr Ochain (disaster zone) & the old colliery (shafts) which was substantially more than a mile. The CEO of iGas said that the drill would be more than 1 mile away from any colliery workings which sounded about right to me.

MetalheadParticipantIt’s believed to be a Kilometre (0.6m) from the nearest of these redundant mine workings Zinger not a mile. The question I asked a DART representative was not regarding the area of the Gresford mining disaster but the possibility of the unsettling of any Radon gas (which is likely to be present in these mineshafts). The agent said they didn’t believe it would be an issue but he failed to offer any form of guarantee.

zingerParticipantGoing straight to the top, the CEO of iGas said & I quote from his email.
//CEO IGas – “I am indeed aware of the Gresford Colliery disaster and am saddened by the invoking of, and publication of stories that suggest we would desecrate the graves of miners. I find it offensive to the memory of those that lost their lives in the disaster.
Let me assure you that the proximity to the disaster site was fully considered by Dart Energy and the relevant authorities at the time of the planning application and it was concluded that there would be no effect on the disaster zone. The borehole is in fact over three quarters of a mile distant from the nearest mined seam and more than a mile from the actual disaster zone. We conduct all our operations and environmental assessments to the highest standard and in compliance with all regulatory requirements”. //December 19, 2014 at 7:46 pm #70764
grandadParticipantI wonder what part of the U.K., the C.E.O. Andrew Austin lives. Could it be down south or do you think maybe Gresford. Mmm, thats a tough guess.

MetalheadParticipantThis picture is currently being circulated on social media, it claims to have originated from the BBC. If it’s authentic then surely we should be concerned about the operating practices of this company…?
Also (not being widely reported on these shores for some reason?) New York State have just agreed on a fracking ban citing ‘health risks’ as the reasoning behind it.
Unconventional gas extraction is being banned in other parts of the world, why is it being rammed down our throats?
