Excellent info, I was told it was imminent.

I’m connected to Wrexham north. Rated at 24meg . I cannot grumble as I get an average of 19meg with talk talk.

I’m on Wrexham exchange and always get at least 6 to 7mb speeds. You can probably guess I’m not on BT Internet.

http://www.samknows.com is my resource of choice.

Says Wrexham exchange getting kitted out for fibre in December. Usually very accurate, and shows all the llu providers too.

    Same (December) for Wrexham north.

The excellent websites Samknows and Thinkbroadband both show where the poor broadband areas are in and around Wrexham. It looks like around 12 or so areas are still pretty poor for broadband reception, as I know only too well. Still, lets see how much difference this FTTC makes :-)

According to Samknows I am 1957m away from Wrexham exchange with ADSL available at ~1.5Mbps. I’m also on LLU so have limited choice when it comes to ISP’s, currently with Orange.

We live on the holt road near PHS plumbing centre and get 7mb and stable via talktalk . Talktalk are asking to register your email address to make them aware you are interested in upgrading st SfB service in December.

I am sure they will have a postal blitz also.

They are quoting speeds of 26Mb on their fibre large package for talktalk plus subscribers with an additional £15.00 per month charge for this service.

A little disappointed that we are not reaching 48mb speeds seeing only a stone throw from the main Wrexham exchange. can only think its the old copper cable in Wrexham that is the the issue…roll on FTTH.

Anyone else know if Wrexham town will get 48mb

When fibre networks were first built by BT, the maximum speed was 40mbps; they have since doubled this to 80mbps. Right now on copper, the theoretical max is 24mbps, but this depends on distance to the exchange itself. As Wrexham itself has one exchange for the whole town, it’s pretty poor for speeds.

On FTTC, Wrexham should get a maximum of 80mbps – speed will depend on your homes proximity to the new Cabinets I’ve seen sprouting up around town – these things. I am down the road from mine and have been advised I will get 68mbps – in Coedpoeth. This page has a table on it which is indicative of distance/speed

Seeing as it’s BT’s network, any fibre provider can be used, except those with their own network (Virgin). So nobody will need to use any particular provider.

This site https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html tells me (at the moment) I can only get speeds between 1.5 and 3.5 Mbps  I am getting between 7 and 9Mbps
