I popped into the Butchers Market yesterday where a young girl was playing a guitar and singing in one of the stalls by the model shop. I thought she was busking at first, but talking to one of the traders it seems she was paid by the council to play in the markets.

I felt very sorry for her as nobody had switched the radio off so she was drowned out by Lionel Ritchie in the background!. The trader told me that a number of traders had tried to contact to council office to get someone to turn the radio off but there was no response from them. The young girl, ever so embarrassed with the situation, had no other option than to stop playing and leave.

    A farce of a situation.

My favourite thing about this story is that the council deem themselves responsible for being in charge of the radio and the patrons of the market are forced to listen to the station of their choosing. With no traders allowed to change it without permission. Very North Korea.

Seems a bit strange I agree but I just find it crazy that the council organised this event yet nobody was around to make sure that everything ran smoothly.

If you want anything to go wrong get the Council involved. Time and time again they mess things up and they couldn’t care a damn.

A couple of weeks ago I walked through Ty Pawb and heard some guitar playing- there was a classical guitarist playing to about 4/5 people. It was such a pity that no one knew as there had been no publicity it was people passing on the off chance. The same as the girl referred to on the market these performers are hardly going to turn up to anything in Wrexham again.
