The only Trustee of the Frank Wingett Cancer Releief Fund I can see is Simon Wingett, can’t see any others or independent ones.

Mr Wingett took to the airwaves of BBC Shropshire, and proclaimed : “the project should be seen as on a level of the Eiffel Tower or Christ The Redeemer in Rio”
What you talking about Wingetts? You plonker!

Seems to me that Mr Wingett has a lot of questions to answer.

My question would be, How much money have you & your wife taken out for expenses & consultancy fees?

It is quite surprising that this has taken so long to get into the general public domain – clearly, some very disgruntled volunteers have brought it to the attention of the media.

The Charity Commission is so slow on picking up on charities that don’t file accounts which surely would be the starting int- continuing not to file should have triggered alarm bells considering the level of funds that had been held.

The whole Dragon project appears to have been a vanity project that has had little merit and so distant from the original aims of the charity to be non-existent.

Why do some people become sucked into vanity schemes of this nature and then lose sight of what they are supposed to be doing – raising funds for people with cancer to relieve their suffering?

Looking back at https://www.wrexham.com/news/65-metre-chirk-dragon-project-looks-for-extra-five-years-to-commence-124906.html which mentioned the then long overdue accounts I note that with the latest update on the charity commission website it pushes a set of accounts off the list on http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Showcharity/RegisterOfCharities/CharityWithoutPartB.aspx?RegisteredCharityNumber=511057&SubsidiaryNumber=0

The 2012 set can be found here for now: http://apps.charitycommission.gov.uk/Accounts/Ends57/0000511057_AC_20120630_E_C.PDF

The 2012 figure of £2548 is mentioned in the Daily Post report, however the 2011 figure of £24k is not as I think it is no longer easily accessible via the public interface:

I wonder what interest if any do the Wingett family have in the consultancy firm that has been employed at £200k for feasibility work- as there are no public accounts available this at this stage it is unknown but is bound to be an avenue the Charity Commission will explore.

BBC have run a story, no mention of the Daily Post story that presumably triggered it (!) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-44453522
