The headline item on Wrexham.com has highlighted yet a again the erosion of democracy on Wrexham Council. Although the current vote at meetings is always predicted as 7;3 in future it will be straight 10 for all decisions.
The current system of over 50% of reports going straight to the Executive Board means that there is no debate or scrutiny and all – the proposed new system may have a value if proper pre Executive Scrutiny takes place.
I note the new system will cost more – as there is no chance for a proper challenge then you may as well just have mini meetings behind closed doors.
Citizens of Wrexham deserve better – come on Council Members – Wednesday gives you the chance to decide are you a Council Member to represent your electorate or prop up a completely non democratic process.

I agree… how about starting a movement amongst all councillors to get rid of the ‘executive board’ and bring back a semblance of democracy to the political landscape of Wales? Today’s set up is not only undemocratic, it is wasteful, non representative of the electorate, and to be blunt .. a farce!
