These have been available, with training in their use, to all Councillors elected to the 2012 Wrexham Council. However one weakness of the previous Council was lack of engagement with the public, especially public discussion,therefore we shouldn’t be surprised that the few Candidates who haven’t taken the opportunity to publish their views on Wrexham.com include the Leader of the Council and a number of the Executive Board past and present. Are they very confident and presume they will be re-elected again or is their understanding and use of IT limited. Some probably found the questions too difficult to answer.
On some of the Independents (those ex Labour) probably found the question on calling for a by election a major put off. Hence why they haven’t responded to the questions. New candidates probably felt out of their depth and thought…I won’t bother making myself look silly or inexperienced.
I think all that have engaged should be congratulated especially those answering the questions. Well done Wrexham.com, excellent questions. I was impressed with Dana Davies’s responses. I also liked the attempts by some of the younger candidates…good effort. Labour responded very well, I was also impressed by a couple of Lib Dems.
Looking at the Leaders of each group/party who impressed
Mark Pritchard……no response
David Bithell…….no ideas, but confident he will be re-elected
Lib Dems…………Aled Roberts..considering his experience felt his responses were poor.
Conservatives…….Lord Kenyon or is it Hugh Jones either way didn’t get too taken with them.
Plaid…………….Carrie Harper or Marc Jones….Ok nothing stood out.
Dana Davies Labour….Clear ideas, financial acumen etc.
