the bias is because the wholepoint of this thread was to justify ignoring the right of reply forcouncillor gregory in your “council leader fires back article”
That was bias because there was no right of reply, Why have you only show one side of the argument?
And the fact you won’t give it to him shows bias.
This site has lost credibility.
I think your opinion is pretty clear :) For the record no Councillors have been told ‘no’ to posting on the forums or the like.
Not sure why this article has caused concern as it is not a new way of doing things. As this thread and your posts specifically mentioned :

When the MP expenses scandal happened, the newspapers still went and tried to get a right of reply from the MPs.
Local MP Ian Lucas Doesn’t Top Expense Table | Wrexham.com – story on the local MP’s expenses, without as you say ‘right of reply’ to it. Oddly enough the only real comment on that was from another Labour MP who said it was a non story – he had though claimed a few iPads so perhaps it did seem minor.
Councillor Costs Revealed | Wrexham.com – Well over a year ago in April 2012 another cut n paste of data from the Council site with highs being highlighted. Again no justification was sought for that, thus no quotes.
Hopefully you will be pleased to know such rubbishness is nothing new and Wrexham.com has a proud record of being at least consistently crap…

thunderbirdskidParticipantCarry on Rob, the site is a community voice that was previously lacking. The beauty of this type of forum is everyone has a right to reply. In a newspaper your response will often be edited to support the story or a viewpoint, similar to broadcast news. If councillors don’t like it, they can either engage or choose to ignore.

wxmParticipantWhat is the remit that statute gives councillors?
The outputs we seek are a community with strong education, excellent health & well-being, jobs with good earnings & great career opportunity in an economy that is sustainable, and a fun & happy community especially for the young and old.
KPI’s should measure the actions of councillors tht lead to the delivery of these things?

RobParticipantGood point – but hard if not impossible to measure ?
Councillors could have been and gone before their actions impact things for the better or worse.

wxmParticipantMuch of the answer to the question you put, is in the point that you make. It is about accountability (?), and how the behaviour of the councillor, the diligent way they exercise their duties, and the actual decisions they make – are measured against there manifesto, and once the outcomes are clear. If the outcomes are apparent once people have left public office, then perhaps they should appear before a public committee, from which we can all learn. Especially future decision makers in public office, and future generations.

wxmParticipantGood article on the Q&A of a single councillor. Would be good to see a WCBC respond to this thread on some solid councillor KPI’s

LiamParticipantRegarding the progress reports I enjoyed Andrew Bailey’s a councillor with a sense of humour!
9. What do you think has been the worst decision taken by the council since the election?
Not electing me Leader-ONLY JOKING NEIL.

wxmParticipantAt the risk of being shot down again by BenjaminM reminding me that I had raised the need for an INTEGRATED PLAN for Wrexham 8 or 9 times in one thread (a fair point well made) … the fact of the matter is that we need an integrated plan that considers all the needs of the community and ‘place’ … and enables us to measure progress.
We have some fantastic stuff and knowledge going on in these forums.
If contributors clearly know what needs to be done for Wrexham, why cannot councillors and Wrexham Council find ways of getting on with this work, providing a running commentary of progress, and galvanise everyones energy in one direction.
The hot topic at present, seems to be the prison. This will not enable the ‘place’ to thrive. We need a rounded effort to improve and provide the best community resources, and must promote and deliver peoples well-being and happiness and earnings. While we develop Wrexham Industrial Estate, which is long overdue, we must deliver the other elements that a successful and happy community needs … such as a cohesive town centre; and the markets, no matter how difficult it is to resolve this, are a part of the solution, and indeed are a strongly growing sector in UK retail.
We keep talking about cuts … are these 2% to 3% off the current Council spend each year (?) … if so, “austerity” is much worse in the global market place, such as the challenges in Greece, France and Italy. We have all had to find 2% to 3% in our work and homes … if the Council spends £280m each year, it has to reduce spend by £8m? It seems to spend tens of millions on ancillary things, and it has the opportunity to earn more. A recent piece I picked up on here suggested the County is forecast to move from 135k residents to 153k … domestic rates alone would raise £8m?
If each councillor were asked to produce a revenue and spend account for there ward, and for the whole of Wrexham … what would these look like?
It is right to talk about performance indicators for councillors and Wrexham Council … and if great people can spend time taking an interest in Wrexham and post such great stuff on here … it is about time we saw a running commentary in the public domain by councillors on progress, and this should include their performance against an integrated plan …
Compliments to wrexham.com for giving us the opportunity to talk frankly and honestly about Wrexham.
