99DylanJonesParticipantWell not quite yet!! but it has been part of the thinking of officers in the Council as revealed in a FOI showing email between two officers. Page 24 of the FOI dated 15th July 2013.

The building was build by donations from people as a memorial to those who have died in wars and there are a number of memorials to individual conflicts after the 2nd World War.
This surely is part of our town heritage- I was appalled to think the council would take away such a memorial.March 22, 2014 at 11:12 am #67028
wrexviewParticipantThere are many people who would like to take over the running of the Memorial Hall as it has great potential. Worryingly closure to this Council seems to be followed by the word ” Demolition”. Surely even this Council will not destroy a building built by public subscription as a Memorial to those who lost their lives in two world wars.

wrexviewParticipantThe Council own a finite number of assets and selling them off to balance the books is an unsustainable model. Why are some boarded up like Grosvenor Road and Grove Park School and not even being actively marketed? Perhaps they should start with those sites before they start demolishing another area of town. Never forget the ” bomb site” that blighted the town centre for decades when the developer who bought it went bust! The repercussions still affect the town today, the People’s Market not being located on the TJ Hughes site. If you sell you lose control!

99DylanJonesParticipantGrosvenor Road site has had a planning application submitted by the Pendine Park residential home business about three weeks ago for ‘supported living’ at least that could see that part of town being brought back into use.

wrexviewParticipantThat planning is for the old Health Authority buildings backing onto King Street the Council own the buildings on the other side of the road opposite the Miner’s Institute.
