    Hey.
You know all those cuts to services that the Council have made, and those that are going to be made this year and next year?
Well, they probably haven’t told you that they’re permanent. Once those services are gone, they’re not coming back.
    Think about that.
    Welcome to the “small state”.

Less services, less staff, less budget = more Lead Members, More money for Council Members
Illogical, irresponsible behaviour by Council Members

Massive cut to advice services just around the corner being hushed up and rushed through. Just in time as more austerity measures grip and poverty rises.Myopic e
    Exec just haven’t a clue.

I don’t agree that the services will never come back. Service provision will relate to funds available and the Council will be fiscally careful whilst these are tight. Sometimes these bits of bad news can help the Community focus on which services are genuinely important and which are not and I certainly expect the Council to look carefully at where it spends its scarce resource

Ms Angry — you are right £500k showed as a budget saving on Advice services– nothing seems to have come out yet what this means- this will be a massive level of cuts. Perhaps everyone will be expected to get advice from their Councillors instead!

And of course, we all know how helpfull and knowledgeable they will be, especially around any re election. God help anyone who needs advice in a few months, especially, for example, people who get an unexpected financial crisis, which can happen even to the most organised amongst us. Who you gonna call ?

From my brief time as a community councillor I saw a number of services being threatened with closure by the district council unless taken on by the community councils.

This included children’s playgrounds, community centres and even some library’s.

This has left community councils in a position of having to either increase community tax contributions or explaining to the community why the service is being lost.

While the district council tax still goes up year on year.

All depts have their budgets cut except 1. The councillors, why aren’t the wards made bigger & have less councillors . Also to save money why doesn’t the council stop paying £300:000 a year for Pcsos. You would be looking at savings of about £800:000 there.

There does not appear to be any logic in how one Councillor is representing a coupy 1,000 constituents and another many 1,000’s yet on same allowances.
Lets hope the WG reorganisation addresses this and cuts the number of Councillors and make them work for their money and become accountable to the peole rather than their buddys.
