Yes, Tony Blair failed to get the Wrexham Labour nomination but Boris Johnson actually fought Clwyd South and lost, doubt he will choose a Welsh seat as his way back into the Commons in 2015!

The real problem is the Executive Board structure that was introduced under Tony Blair’s administration. This structure gives a small number of Councillors all the power. The full Council Meetings used to be the main debating chamber with matters being hotly debated in public view. Even the minutes of meetings are not as detailed as they once were. Watching the web broadcast, talking to everyone and reading these posts the current and new system clearly doesn’t work, and adds a lot of cost and less transparency. Technology is suppose to be enabling us to get leaner, not put more and more layers in which cost money. Why don’t they go back to a full council, with expert and accountable manager reporting in, and save £1m, or £3m or more a year that can be spent much better on the community.
If people vote based off political parties then decisions will be made inside those groupings prior to any meeting or debate.
In a way we get the democracy processes we all vote, or abstain from :)

OK…I think I have grasped the democratic process now. All decisions are made in secret regardless of the discussion being confidential or not.
