wrexviewParticipantWhy do Wrexham Council need to spend more money on consultants when they have already identified areas where cuts can be made, held a public consultation and already acted on some of the suggestions. Surely we have enough expertise within the Officers and Councillors to complete this process. It looks sometimes as if they are looking for an outside body to blame for the where the cuts are made. This extra money spent on consultants would be better spent on saving jobs or services. Why is the default position of this Council always ” ask consultants”?

NJonesParticipantYou would think the same of the university but they paid a consultant to review their staffing structure. The cost of restructuring over the past 4-5 years has been around £1 million to save an estimated £2 million. Its not clear how much went to the one company. This is the legacy the retiring VC has left!

DerekJacksonParticipantWho is trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the people in Wrexham– why can’t WCBC be honest about the contract that they have with PcW. On the Sell to Wales web site there is confirmation that the Council awarded PcW a contract for £1 million in July for a LEAN Management.
Why are the Council being selective in what goes into the Public domain via the local media- surely all residents should have the whole picture.
How can the Leader of the Council state Wrexham is big enough and capable of managing it’s own affairs when the reality is they are spending vast sums of money on things that any good management team should be doing. If the existing management team are not capable of budget management and savings then they surely are not capable of managing a Wrexham only Council.
Over to you Clr Wynn and Clr Hugh Jones who we know read these threads – what is your response!!January 8, 2015 at 6:17 pm #71458
AMA ExpressParticipantDefinition of a Consultant: Someone who borrows your watch from you, tells you the time, and then offers to sell your watch back to you at 10 times the price you paid for it.

RobParticipantDoes anyone wish to voice how they would interpret the bit in bold below?
The commercial basis for this engagement will be:
– Fixed lump sum payment for diagnostic review work. This should be recoverable through the implementation phase, provided that it is progressed.
– Risk reward payment for implementation of findings – the supplier will be paid entirely according to cashable benefits realised. Based on the “delivered” phase.
– Cap on reward – there will be a ‘cap’ placed on the reward payments made.January 8, 2015 at 6:43 pm #71439
wrexviewParticipantThe wording in bold seems to imply some sort of payment by results. Everyone on the Executive Board must know exactly what it means.

lazyjackParticipantIt’s things like this that do make you feel that perhaps it is time for change with WCBC. I’m not totally sure how successful a merger with Flintshire would be but when you look at the current situation, how can you have any confidence that things will improve with the current setup ?

Maureen GrayParticipant– Risk reward payment for implementation of findings – the supplier will be paid entirely according to cashable benefits realised. Based on the “delivered” phase.
This means that the consultants or partners as they are referred too, will not be paid there fee until their results/recommendations are proven to save money!
