Wrexham will be the only County Council in Wales that does not give financial support to Citizens Advics. Everyone can access its services and receive help over a wide range of problems. Do Councillors appreciate how much work and the number of people CAB deal with ? Where do the Council think these people would go without CAB in the town? What impact would it have on the lives of those people?

It is a disgrace to even suggest withdrawing funding. Each and every councillor should hang their heads in shame.

What is more of a disgrace is that if you are not in receipt of any Council Service that if you access Council Welfare Rights it will cost up to £300 — were is the logic!

The decision has been referred back to the Executive Board , hope they all visit CAB to get a better understanding of what the town would lose if they close. A case of CAB will not be fully appreciated until it’s gone!

The most disgraceful thing about all of this is that the Councils alternative will cost you £200 on a no win no fee basis if you are not in receipt of any Council services. It now looks like the Council are trying to make money from people who need help and support.

Is there a charge to use this service?
Depends – There can be a one-off charge of £200 on a “no-win-no-fee” type basis; only applies to those who do not meet the Unit`s standard criteria. Vast majority of people do not have to pay for the service. Contact us for further information regarding this.

Hope all the Executive Board read the article about CAB in the news section here on Wrexham.com. The Council decided to spend money on a new frontage for the Guildhall (at what cost?) rather than keep a service which benefits many many people in the town. Their priorities are at odds with the public.

Even worse than the cost of the new frontage is the recommendation by Pritchard to keep the Executive Board at 10 members for the next 12 months and that the recommendation is being voted on by……..you’ve guessed it… the Executive Board!! Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas. We as Council Tax payers MUST do something to end the autocratic rule of WCBC where 10 hand picked, like minded individuals hold all the cards and the remaining Councillors have to suck it up time after time without any democratic recourse.
The merging of just 2 portfolios into 1 would ensure the availability of a very much needed service to the citizens of Wrexham.

BenjaminM. I agree 10 Executive Board members to cover 7 Council Heads of Departments.
