A report on BBC today shows how little has changed in Lansbury Par in South Wales that has now won the unenviable title of poorest estate — a classification that Caia Park and Plas Madoc fall close behind in the top 10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-39457860 The report could very easily have the name Lansbury substituted with Caia Park or Plas Madoc it would read very similar.

These areas have had £millions of pounds poured into them over the past 20 years yet the levels of poverty have changed very little, improvements in employment have increased but in some families they are 4/5th generation unemployment

It will be interesting to see what happens when the Labour Welsh Government pull the plug on the Communities Programme. The most secure jobs that have occurred in Wrexham have been for those employed by the Council staff teams who have remained protected.

When will Wrexham Council provide a report on what thy have been doing under the Communities First and what success they have had. Many people have improved their lives during this period – how many had support from the Council?

Flippin ‘eck Dylan. Do you find yourself between engagements? In the last couple of months you’ve been like a bloke trying to start a Mexican wave at a reserve game. I blame the Council.

I remember Caia Park and Plas Madoc in the 1980s. The two estates have vastly improved since then.

When was Queens Park changed to Caia Park and why ?

I actually thought it was still known as Queens Park in the 1980’s but could be wrong.

The emphasis needs to change from looking at easing poverty to creating wealth

Agree with Alan, Plas Madoc has improved since the 80’s. Still a long way to go though. If those 10 defectors had got their wish and closed and knocked down the Leisure Centre it would have been a big blow to the area. Thankfully it didn’t, and great that they now have the funding from Welsh Government.
