The Body Care shop in Henblas street will be relocating to the old Textiles shop across from BHS.
Not sure of the date as yet.

Is that the one down by the post office?

Henblas Street is certainly taking a pasting at the moment. Many shops seem to have suddenly evaporated or relocated

Yes, the one by the post office. I believe there are two more small units to close down there too. A shame Steve moved his Covent garden up the road he was so established on that corner.

That didn’t help……but this fresh wave of move/closure seems to have coincided with the new Car Parking charges. That said, it looks like several of the businesses have moved out of the non-competitive Council run property into the more competitive private sector

Depending on when leases are up, will reflect on whether shops stay put or move on. I’ve heard BHS are holding negotiations with the council to see if it’s viable to stay in the town. It’s a case of watch this space.

In respect to BHS up to about three years ago the top floor was occupied by the Council Education Departments plus others. This would have brought in rental which the property developer will have lost so will have had to try and recoup by increasing BHS at next rent review.
If the sales levels are not high enough and overheads are increasing BHS along with others have no choice but to relocate or move totally away from Wrexham.

We popped along to the town centre forum meeting earlier today (reports up in the morning) and car parking / footfall was a bit of a hot topic.

Owner of Eagles Meadow Kevin Critchley mentioned the footfall counters for Eagles Meadow and it was quite interesting to hear where people were entering the centre from. He pointed out that footfall was up in Debenhams and Next, which is presumably people using the entrances at the rear of the shops as an entrance.

The footfall counter that he said was more noticeably down was the bridge on Yorke Street, with not as much footfall coming in from the town centre.

People using Tesco’s free parking would use that entrance. High Street isn’t what you would call town centre. If I were walking in from town I would walk up Bank Street or Henblas Street, through Market Street car park and into Eagles Meadow that way. Not that I shop in Eagles Meadow.
