The police need as much help and information as is available, it might not be arson related but just add to the overall picture. These people need to be caught !

That’s all well and good, but when you do give them information they need to act. I gave what information I had to a PCSO I asked to visit me on 5 November, am still waiting for a real officer to come and take a statement as they are not qualified to do so.

It’s disgraceful that it has taken a poor innocent old lady to die for them to get off their arris and act, this should have been nipped in the bud months ago.

There taking the Micky out of the police now.
How are the cars being set alight? Surely it doesn’t just take a lighter?

Yes, a lighter or a match is all it takes.

You’d think that the police would stop any youths walking around with suspect petrol cans though! I saw a youth walking around with one the other day and a police car drove past and either didn’t see it or didn’t think to check why a youth looking about 16 years old would need a can of petrol.

it is not illegal to carry a petrol can though. A 16 year old could have a perfectly valid reason, they could own a moped for instance. Police cannot just confront somebody because they feel like it, they must have a valid reason (unless you want to bring back the old “sus laws”).

I go to enough car fires (I am a fire-fighter) to know that the vast majority are just started with a naked flame (match or lighter). Anyone wishing to start a car fire would not want to draw attention to themselves by walking around with something as obvious as a fuel can.
