    They could always install a turnstile machine that you have to put your ticket in or purchase one to get out of the station. Or would it be cheaper to hire someone to stand there when a train comes in like they used to?

    Agreed, if those concerned were travelling from Wrexham General or Central TO Gwersyllt then they had opportunity to buy a ticket at the platform – the ‘no guard/conductor’ excuse just doesn’t work. In fact, as so many people seem to acknowledge that there isn’t often someone on the train to get a ticket from it makes their story that they planned to buy a ticket on-board even less plausible!
