Hi Everyone – I live in Wrexham and currently work in Chester.

I’ve recently been offered a very good job but it’s in the centre of Crewe. Does anyone on the forum do the Wrexham-Crewe commute? The few times I have, it’s been a nightmare journey (75 mins for 30 miles).

Any advice? Am I better off driving to Chester and taking the train?

    Thanks!

Why bother driving to Chester? Trains to/from Wrexham:
07.00 virgin train gets you into Crewe at 07.54 Direct service, no change.
08.02 Arriva train gets you into Crewe at 08.54 Change at Chester
    Return
16.49 To Chester, arrives Wrexham 17.46
17.49 To Chester, arrives Wrexham 18.44

I guess it depends on your working hours.

    Thanks Rex,

I did consider the train – it’s not very frequent from Wrexham and with the cost of parking would be more than driving by the looks of it.

I have taken a look at driving the Chester and then taking the train but again the car park makes that pretty pricey :(

On the many occasions I have driven from Wrexham to Crewe ( train station ) I’ve usually done it in approx 50 – 55 minutes ( usually the last mile takes 10 minutes at peak times )
It’s pot luck that you don’t get stuck behind a tractor on the A534.

Parking tickets at Wrexham station are issued but never enforced, I’ve had hundreds and never paid a penny. Just totally ignore them and nothing will come of them!
