Why are people suggesting the road be narrowed? That would cause more congestion on an already busy road. Better to WIDEN it, making it a dual carriageway on both sides, like the Wrexham Bypass, surely?

It would be quite quick and cheap to narrow the road in the short term to prevent overtaking if desired. You wouldn’t need to bring the kerbs in, just repaint the white lines on the edges of the road. Didn’t they do this for a while (with some temporary barriers) after one of the other recent crashes.

The road does need widening in the long term, but isn’t the typical timescale for agreeing, designing and building a new road around the 20-30 year mark?

The white van with the blue/yellow chequer stripes on the bridge at Chirk last weekend was easy to spot a mile away on the dead straight road, but it didn’t stop people going past it at 80 mph.

[quote quote=133209]Quiz question – how many mile of motorway do we have in North Wales?

Is that our starter for 10, and do we get 3 bonus questions ?

Yup! Where is the one mile stretch of motorway?

A short stretch of the A55 before Conwy has full motorway restrictions and 70mph signs instead of National speed limit signs. It was built to comply with all motorway regulations but is not actually a motorway. Is that what you refer to Zinger?

Sure is Mike. Not many know that. Well spotted.

Problem here is the van sits on the bridge above the dual cw part going up the hill where there are never any accidents. There are maintenance lay by’s either end of the bridges so why he doesn’t sit in those to reduce speeds where it is needed I’ll never know. Oh yeah I know, it’s because the van would be highly visible there from a long way off unlike where he sits now hidden by trees until the last few yards.

Simple thing is those bridges need to be temporarily barriered down the centre until it is made dual cw to Shrewsbury.

People kicking off and talking b******s again, this crash was an attempted suicide. The woman driver swerved over into the path of an oncoming hgv.

Mr Kipling since when have you become a Police Accident Investigator? Your inference about the lady is extremely disturbing if either she or her family read this thread and Rob should delete asap.
Your level of insensitivity has stooped to a real low.
