Thanks Daave for comment re spelling I must be following your name spellings!!

Seriously if it is correct that the Council meeting won’t be webcast live then we are yet again being deprived of looking at the democracy of our Council! — Just because it is going to be potentially a rowdy meeting and true debate we the citizens of Wrexham are being excluded and unless we attend will find everything out second hand.
Is it cost cutting by not having camera operator at a time they are debating £63k of wage rises for the Members- disgrace.

Tomorrow’s meeting is listed as being webcast – Mayoral ceremony this afternoon sadly wasn’t. Especially since the councillors bring out their finest robes for the occasion.

Surely any advice that has been given to the Council by legal Counsel, should be freely available to all Councillors and the electors of the County Borough. Wonder how much has been paid for the advice? Extra spending in addition to the £63,000 for the two additional members of the Executive Board, if the proposal goes through at Full Council!

There is a point that is being overlooked which shows the total lack of input from all Council Members — what is the point of having a “Customers, Performance, Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee” if they are not used to debate the revised makeup report going to Council tomorrow. Why have Councilors not had the opportunity to debate such a fundamental change in the governance arrangement.
This is turning into a farce and Cr Jones should give serious consideration as to reporting this process to the Standards Committee and more crucially the Local Government Ombudsman.
The Executive in the future may as well declare that everything in future should be Part 2 private and confidential.

I am aware that Cllr Jones has a meeting on Tuesday (next Tuesday presumably) with the Internal Audit Team regarding this matter. The webcast of tomorrows Council Meeting should be interesting.

There has been a lively debate – clearly there is a need to get all of this fiasco sorted — there is no confidence in what is happening. Those putting the proposal forward should hang their head in shame

Turkeys for Christmas!! Not one single Councilor stood up to support the proposal — so much for the Leader having support from his own Group

You all need to check how your local Councilor voted- if they voted for the change then they have voted themselves another £63k in allowances at a time of service cuts

I really could not believe viewing the full Council meeting that the ex Labour Councilors have swung so far from their principles. The moral compass of Councilors has clearly shown that self interest is all that matters and what has happened to being an Independent Councilor when they all vote like sheep.
There was no one from the ruling party that had the conviction to support the proposal in public as not one of them stood up other than voting for a proposal that will give them an increase overall of £63k in Members allowances.
The vote is a major blow to democracy as I am sure the majority of ratepayers in Wrexham have not voted for sheep but Councillors to represent them — how many Councilors bothered to ask any of their constituents.
Wake up voters of Wrexham ask your Councilor what they support — Council Allowances or services in the community.
