To all the school kids going on ‘strike’ for Climate Change:
You are the first generation who have required air-conditioning in every classroom.
You want a TV in every room and your classes are all computerised.
You spend all day and night on electronic devices.
More than ever, you don’t walk or ride bikes to school but arrive in caravans of private cars that choke local roads and worsen rush hour traffic.
You are the biggest consumers of manufactured goods ever and update perfectly good expensive luxury items to stay trendy,
Your entertainment comes from electric devices.
Furthermore, the people driving your protests are the same people who insist on artificially inflating the population growth through immigration, which increases the need for energy, manufacturing and transport.
The more people we have, the more forest and bushland we clear and more of the environment is destroyed.
    How about this…
Tell your teachers to switch off the air-con.
Walk or ride to school. Switch off your devices and read a book.
Make a sandwich instead of buying manufactured fast food.
No, none of this will happen because you are selfish, badly educated, virtue signalling little ‘princesses’, inspired by the adults around you who crave a feeling of having a ‘noble cause’ while they indulge themselves in Western luxury and unprecedented quality of life.
Wake up, grow up and learn to research facts and think for yourself and not blindly accept the words and thoughts of others – I don’t think you formulated this action plan all by your self – suspect you may have had some influence and ‘guidance’ from those you trust ….a word of warning, be cautious of the influence of the ‘left’ because there may be a time in the future that you will be the ones left out…

Because a simple search will tell anyone that even in 2018 it was being copied and pasted on FB (the social media where old folks hang out).

A ‘tu quoque’ argument. You have nothing.

My message to the climate strikers is good on you for caring about our planet. Keep it up.

Just about everything on that list applies to adults and the difference in their case, is that they have power over their choices and decisions, whereas children generally live in a world created and governed by adults. Understandably the young ‘climate strikers’ can come across as naive and idealistic and nuance isn’t their strong point. However, it is a refreshing blast of fresh air to the fug of complacency and vested interests that ensnare us older folk into thinking we can stick to the old ways despite the obvious damage this causes to the world around us, right on our doorstep and further afield.

Thank you to all the Climate Change protesters for caring about the planet, i do reckon AMA Express was having a bit of a laugh by copying from Facebook to be honest, well i hope so haha. When people are using ‘left’, ‘right’ and ‘snowflake’ it is American political culture seeping in to ours, it adds nothing to the conversation. Government needs to tackle the fossil fuel industry, this requires bold change, relying on other people to change their habits is pure ignorance to the part that they have played in all of this.

The naivety of some young people is their strength- they cut through all the waffle presented by professionals and get to the key issues. So many professional wrap up messages in such a way that people don’t relate to the issue.

We should be actively encouraging our young people to tackle social issues and give them legitimate opportunities to raise them and not penalise them by marking ‘Unauthorised albescence’ by the school. What a nonsense they study the topic but when it comes to action they are penalised- bureaucratic nonsense. Power to our Young People.

I agree well done them for caring and trying to influence governments etc.

But back to reality with regards to just this country.

What we do in this country would make only 1% of a difference world wide with regards to climate change.

To achieve just that 1% We in this country would all have to stop flying going on holiday as well as business, all cars would need to be electric, we would all need to be Vegans or vegetarians, all gas and oil burners would have to go all 23 million of them, all electric would need to be generated from solar panels or wind turbines and the list goes on.

So again well done for highlighting it but it ain’t gonna happen any time soon.
