woogleeyeParticipantBunch of school children whose ball has been taken away from them so will it be business as usual in this failing council.

99DylanJonesParticipantIt looks like reading the various media article on what has happened that the level of personal snipping and counter statements that are taking place that Wrexham will not have any form of stability until there is an election and let the electorate decide.
Like any family feud that takes place it can take months sometimes even years before all involved will sit around a table and have a civil discussion.
These ‘group ups’ should move away from Playground politics. Each and everyone of them – and I mean both sides should be reported to the Public Service Ombudsman for bring the office of Councilor into disrepute.
It is no good doing this before the local Standards Committee as they could not possibly be impartial with so many individuals involved.
It will be interesting to hear a statement from Carwyn Jones as Leader of the Labour Party in Wales after the NATO summit is over as Neil Rogers has inferred in one statement that there has been interference from central Labour sources. This being the case then the Labour Party throughout Wales is potentially going to be tarnished at a time when they are gearing up for the 2015 Westminster Elections and 206 Welsh Assembly.
Carwyn should bring in the Commissioners to run the Council to ensure that the people and services of Wrexham do not become pawns in a very unsavoury political game.September 5, 2014 at 10:09 am #69128
LiamParticipantAs predicted 10 Labour defectors join deputy leader Mark Pritchard’s democratic independents. They are looking to form a ruling coalition and have invited Lib Dems (4), Tories (5) and Wrexham Independent Group (10) to join them. Would leave Labour in opposition with 13. That said I’d be surprised if all of those groups agreed to join the new coalition.

jimbowParticipantAs reported in yesterdays local press a labour group insider said the split was caused by a vote at a private labour party meeting over the future of Plas Madoc Leisure Centre. The paper understood the vote was split 13 to 10 in favour of providing financial support for Splash Community Trust to help take over the centre.
If this is correct and it is the same 10 that have re signed from the Labour Group.I presume that the 10 do not accept the majority democratic voting process. Now the belief is that they will be joining the Democratic Independents,I hope that they know the meaning of a majority vote before shifting their allegiance.September 5, 2014 at 12:00 pm #69149

Plas Madoc was a Money Pit even in its “heyday”

99DylanJonesParticipantThere are a number of ways forward and it should not be seen that it is a forge conclusion that Clr Rogers will remain Leader after the next Full Council Meeting. The new Independent Group still does not have a majority therefore the remaining Labour Councilors could form a coalition with a mix of the Democratic Independents, Plaid etc.
There is a long way to go before this is all sorted including the possibility that the First Minister may still call in Commissioners.September 5, 2014 at 2:43 pm #69130

David A Bithell’s Wrexham Independent Group (8 plus two Plaid members) is the other independent group that could form coalition with others if they chose. It’s all a bit of a muddle. Think a forced amalgamation could be on the cards if commissioners are called in.

DavidBParticipantMy sentiments are with a couple of other contributors yesterday,”The Monitor” and “johnhoppy” when they stated that there should be no Party Politics in local government, even “newly formed” groups. Why can’t the councillors all be independent minded, stick to representing the views of their ward, and make judgements and decisions themselves instead of the “herding instinct” of any group. Judge each topic under consideration on its merits and vote individually and truly independently !
