Wrexham FC’s £10,000 FA Cup TV Windfall
Wrexham Football Club’s first round ‘proper’ tie against Cambridge was moved day forward due to S4C covering it live. The game, to be played on November 12th, will be shown in full on the Welsh TV station.
Some clubs gain £67,000 if the games were featured on the likes of ESPN or ITV however as this is on S4C the reward is lower yet still significant £10,000 . The winners of the tie also receive £18,500 prize money.
A cash boost would be welcome for Wrexham FC, with reports emerging today that although the players have been paid there are delays in payments to non-playing staff at the club.
The club is currently in the middle of a takeover, with the old owners stating they have handed over the running of the club to the Wrexham Supporters Trust under a ‘licence agreement’ yet the overall transfer has yet to be rubber stamped by the footballing authorities.
Some fans have hit out at this delay, annoyed at the lack of response from the Football Association and Football Conference.
