Wrexham Area Civic Society have been in touch to tell us of their next meeting taking place on Thursday 18 October.

There will be talk entitled “THE LLANGOLLEN RAILWAY – ONWARD TO CORWEN”. The illustrated presentation will be given by Mr. George Jones.

The Llangollen Railway has long been operating from Llangollen to Carrog. The long term dream of the Llangollen Railway Society has always been to operate from Ruabon to Corwen. Whilst from Ruabon to Llangollen may yet prove to be elusive, the line is presently being reinstalled form Carrog to Bonwm and Corwen. Mr. Jones proposes to give a description of the overall project. He will be also be able update us on the progress of the work, and when the Society expects the completed line to Corwen to reopen.

George Jones is well known in the Wrexham area for his enthusiasm for steam trains, with his long time connection with the Llangollen Railway, for whom he is their press spokesman.

The meeting will take place at Ty AVOW, 21 Egerton Street, Wrexham at 7.15 pm. All are welcome, admission is free.

For more information about the activities of the Wrexham Area Civic Society, please come to the meeting; you are welcome to contact Nick Roe on 01978 293247 (day), or visit www.wrexhamcivic.co.uk.
