Glyndwr University has said that places are filling up quickly for the start of the new academic year.

Last week students across the UK received their A level results with some being accepted into their first choice universities and others having to seek entry elsewhere through clearing.

In Wrexham students achieved an overall A level pass rate of 98%, marginally above the all Wales figure and also above performance in Wrexham schools in 2011. 23% of grades awarded were at A* or A.

Julie Cowley, head of partnerships, recruitment and admissions at Glyndwr University said: “The clearing process is a constantly changing picture but at the moment we are pleased to see significant increase in courses across the university’s portfolio.

“The position with applications is as we would expect at this stage. We would urge all students considering an application to get in touch with us as soon as possible as places are filling up quickly.”

The university’s admissions team can be contacted on 01978 293439 or for further information visit http://www.glyndwr.co.uk/en/clearing2012/
