Virgin is set to galvanise Wrexham’s tourist market by bringing their Balloon Flights to nearby Eyton.

The rides will last for about an hour, and will allow passengers a unique view of landmarks and scenery in the area from up to 5,000ft in the air. Balloon rides commence from April and are hoped will increase visitor numbers to the Wrexham area with people travelling from across region for the experience.

Plassey Leisure Park will act as a base for the flights before passengers head towards the Dee Valley, not only taking in the dramatic views but champagne too!

Virgin Balloon Flights’ pilot Des Bimson has been flying balloons for 10 years and will pilot the flights from the Plassey.

He said:  “We are delighted to be working with the Plassey Leisure Park and are looking forward to giving people the opportunity to explore Wrexham and the surrounding area from above. The wind decides which way you fly and what you see so every balloon flight is different and exciting.

“We have over 100 launch sites across the UK and generally we get local people as well as those from further away coming to fly and to spend their money on breakfast, dinner or souvenirs from local business before or after the flight.”

Sarah Brookshaw, Director of the Plassey Leisure Park, said: “It’s great to be working with all the team at Virgin Balloon Flights and offering visitors a truly unique way to experience the fantastic views of the Dee Valley and beautiful surrounding countryside.”

Balloon flights are available from £79pp via the website at www.virginballoonflights.co.uk or on 0844 844 8080.
