Statement of Jayne Johnson
We invited them to tell you a little about who they are, any political history and about their political leanings.
The reason I have decided to stand in this election is because I believe you must live in a community to fully understand its needs and problems. I have enjoyed living in Smithfield for 35 years with the area having its good and bad points. I am married with two daughters and five grandchildren.
At the moment not one political party has set its self apart enough to interest me. If elected I will be doing what the community asks, not what a party tells me to do.
I have been a independent community councillor for the last five years, and a member of Smithfield tenants and resident's association for about eighteen years, during this time I have managed to build good working relations with various agencies and have been able to voice and address the concerns of residents.
