Nightingale House Hospice has announced that it has one place available for the London marathon which takes place in April 2012 and is collecting the names of any keen runners who would like to take part.
All names will go into a draw on the 16th of January so that the winning participant still has lots of time to prepare themselves for the challenge and start collecting as much sponsorship to help to raise as much funds as they can for the hospice.
The Hospice has set a minimum target of £2,000 in sponsorship for the successful applicant.
Eleri Smith, Fundraising Administrator at Nightingale House Hospice said “This is a fantastic opportunity for all of those sports enthusiasts out there and a great way to also help the hospice. Places on the London are so hard to come by and so we are very happy to have been given a place.”
Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.
This year alone, it will cost £2.46 million to run the hospice, this equates to £6,700 per day of which only 19% comes from statutory government sources meaning that the hospice greatly relies on the generosity of the communities it serves.
