Nightingale House Hospice’s annual Santa Dash event has been hailed a success by its organisers.
Over 100 Santas donned a bright red suit and festive reindeer antlers for the dash which took place in Llangollen earlier this month raising the impressive sum of £3,000 for the hospice.
Organisers were full of praise for those who took part in the event, which was sponsored by Wholebake Ltd.
“Despite the cold wet and windy weather, the run was a great success. I would like to say a big thankyou to everybody who took part; to all of our volunteers, our sponsor and Santa Claus for making a guest appearance and to Ysgol Dinas Bran for all of their help with organising the event and especially for allowing the participants to use the school free of charge,” said Samantha Lee, Community Fundraiser at Nightingale House.
She added: “It was a great day with great people, fantastic community support and lots of festive spirit. I hope next year will be as successful.”
Nightingale House Hospice provides specialist palliative care services, completely free-of-charge, to patients and their families across a wide area stretching from Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.
This year alone, it will cost £2.46 million to run the hospice, of which only 19% of comes from statutory government sources. The hospice therefore greatly relies on the generosity of the communities it serves.
